This is getting really annoying. At this point, I'm the only person in my immediate contact (ie family, friends, etc) who gets migraines. No one knows what it's like to want to be somewhere or go somewhere, but you can't because you're afraid of the migraine you'll end up with. I REALLY want to go to prom, since this is my last year in high school, but I know it's gonna be really loud, so I can't go 'cause I'd have a migraine by the time I got home. Plus, it'll more than likely be on yacht, so there's no way I'll be able to go home when the migraine hits, and besides, I don't want to go without a date. I love going to youth group, despite what a lot of people think about me, I really am a social person, but I come home every freakin' time with a migraine! I went this past wednesday, and I missed my youth pastor's message because I was in a dark room on the opposite end of the house 'cause my head was bugging me so much. I had a nice long chat with Tim *le sigh* but I totally missed what he said. I want to be on the leadership team for youth group, but unless my attendance to youth group and the home church for the group, I can't be on it. I'm worried about what will happen when they move into the new building and start having church services in the morning again, because I already have a home church, and I can't drive, so someone would have to take me to the other side of town when they should be at our regular church.

Tonight while I was cleaning the kitchen I realized that it wasn't so much so much my old school, as the migraines I ended up with that I hated so much. By the time I got home from school, I would practically be crying from all the noise from school, the bus, and the walk home! I love my music, but sometimes I even have to turn off my soft stuff 'cause it bugs my head too much! Should a 17 year old girl really have to put up with this? NO!!!!!!!!!! There's so much I want to do within the next year, but I have to be careful 'cause of what might happen with my head! I shouldn't have to be worrying about this! I want to go to prom, I want to go to youth group every week, I want to go to a concert for my 18th birthday, I want to go to day 7 tapings on sunday nights, then stop at starbucks for a frappuccino, I want to go to bible study every other sunday night and buy the iced mocha, but I can't all because of my stupid head! AND THERE'S NOT ONE FREAKIN' THING I CAN DO ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *pants* Whew, that was a load off my chest! lol

Have you gone to the doctor at all? There are meds that you can take daily to prevent the frequency of Migraines, as well as meds to take when Migraines hit. I get bad Migraines as well, and I have both kinds of meds - they've made a big difference for me. You shouldn't have to miss out so much on life *big hugs*

Thanks, guys!

First off, I just want to say thanks for checking up on me and posting you're uplifting messages! I have been to the doctor many times the last two years I've had these things. I have to be careful which proventative medicines I take because a good percentage of them are depressives and I don't need much more of that, I've been on Prozac for three years for depression. Right now I'm taking Elavil at night which is a muscle relaxer 'cause a majority of my migraines start out as tension migraines, which is why I would get them after school. I am taking Maxalt MLT which is fairly new, but I don't like lugging that around with me everywhere, plus I have to eat or drink something with it because of the aftertaste it leaves (it's a dissolvable tablet). When I was at winter camp with my youth group I took one box with me, which holds three doses of the maxalt. Over a two day period I used all three! I have tried just about all the other migraine meds on the market, but after a while, my body gets used to them and they stop working. At this point, Maxalt is the longest lasting one out of all the meds I've tried. Thanks again, for taking the time to read my rants and give me hope.

Maybe ask your doctor about trying Nortriptyline as a preventitive med. It's an anti-depressent ;) I'm glad Maxalt works for you - never did for me. Midrin is my drug of choice :D Of course, it knocks me on my ass! LOL *hugs*

lol, I tried midrin for a while, that one's next in longevity after the Maxalt. I've been on it twice and both times it worked for about a month or so, then it stopped working! >_
