umbralilliumWhile watching Beauty and the Beast I got hit by a Hamlet, Buffy-Style bunny. Seeing as it's me, it'd be Spike/Xander slash, or in this case Hamlet/Horatio slash. *grin*
Dramatis Personae:
Claudius - Angelus OR Lindsey
Hamlet the Younger - William/Spike
Polonius - Giles
Horatio - Xander
Laertes - Penn
Gertrude - Darla
Ophelia - Drusilla
Ghost of Hamlet's father - Liam (yes, if you choose Angelus as Claudius, some distinction must be made)
Rosencrantz - Jonathan
Guildenstern - Warren
Osric - Andrew
Barnardo - Wesley
Marcellus - Gunn
Reynaldo - Ethan Rayne
Fortinbras - Connor
Norwegian Captain, players, two clowns, Francisco, Voltemand, Cornelius, Doctor of Divinity, Ambassadors, Lords, Ladies, Officers, Soldiers, Sailors, Messengers, and attendants - Fill as desired
You can stay as close to the original story as you like, such as turning it into a theatre production that the casts of Buffy and Angel put on (especially if you choose to do Liam as King Hamlet and Angelus as Claudius, when I saw it in the park, the same actor played both roles) or you can have the story vaguely parallel the original story: Boy loses father, uncle quickly fills father's shoes, boy sees father's ghost and swears justice for his father, boy shags best friend, boy dumps girlfriend, etc. etc. and so forth. The ending is entirely up to you, but try to keep it as close as possible. If you want to have Hamlet end up as an Immortal or a vampire, that's cool, but either way, he has to die. So! Any takers? *hopeful look* If you feel like passing it on to a friend, feel free, this post isn't friends-locked.
