umbralilliumI'm sure we all have one person/fic that got us into a fandom or a particular pairing within a fandom. I think it would be awesome to let that person know what they did. For example, I've been a Scribe fan for years and I've been a Buffy fan for almost as long, BUT, I only got into Buffy because I read Scribe's Spike/Xander stories, so Scribe's influence was two-fold, she not only got me into Buffy, but she also got me into Spike/Xander.
So, my idea is to have an Author/Fandom Appreciation day. Take a little time out of your life to stop and write an email/post to an author who brought you into a fandom. If you can't remember whose fic brought you into a fandom, no biggie, just thank all the authors in the fandom for making it such an awesome fandom. Some of you might be asking, 'well, what if I was part of that fandom from the beginning?' That's cool, make a post thanking the writers for that series/movie/book. It doesn't matter if they don't see it, the point is to draw attention to the awesome writers that bring your favorite tv show/movie/book to life.
