I went on a Day of Adventure yesterday with my youth group and it was more physically strenuous than I thought it would be. Okay, first thing we did was eat breakfast at my youth pastor's house (got there a 6:30 am. X-P), then we all piled in the cars (six cars total) and headed to the nearby mountains. We get within about 4 miles of our first destination (which a majority of us didn't know what it was, but that was the idea) and four of the six cars can't go any higher due to icy roads and 2-wheel drive. So, we get people up to where we're supposed to be using the two 4Runners that went up, also the only two 4-wheel drive vehicles. So, after waiting around for an hour to an hour and a half I finally get up there, then we wait about another 10 minutes before heading to the first activity. The hike to the area we needed to be in was about a fifteen minute hike, uphill, in fresh snow. The first activity turned out to be swinging four to five feet on a rope with knots and a loop at the end and try to stay on a small square platform. When I tried (keyword tried) to get across, I fell off the rope and rolled about a foot or snow, covering myself in snow. Out of the 20 or so teens that went on this trip, I was the only one who fell off the rope. (there goes my pride) Next we were going to be climbing poles and trees (attached to harnesses of course), but I ended up with my youth pastor's wife and daughter for about half an hour to try and quell a migraine, so I didn't get harnessed up, and therefore could not climb, which was COMPLETELY fine with me! lol. After that we came back down the mountain and ate lunch around 3. Then we went to a nearby family fitness center and played Wally-Ball (volleyball in a raquetball court = VERY LOUD!) for about two hours. After the wally-ball, we drove about 45 minutes to a gymnastics gym and played around in there for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. For dinner we went to this FABULOUS Italian restaraunt. It was delicious! The prices are a bit high, but you get a LOT of food! We got spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were bigger than a tennis ball! And after dinner we all went back to my youth pastor's house and got picked up by our parents. All-in-all, it was a lot of fun, but I'm so sore! It hurts to walk, but that was probably from jumping on the trampoline at the gymnastics place for the first time in God-knows-how-long. So, needless to say, I'm takin' it easy today, no church and definitely no bike riding (hahaha, very funny mom!).
